  1. Angiebal, are you currently working for Matrix? I would appreciate any helpful information. I'm talking to a recruiter now.
  2. I hope to start 10/27. I am in the application process and I don't know how long everything takes.
  3. WOW! I just logged on and this is the right post at the right time. I have been working in LTC for almost 2yrs. I am looking to expand my wings and I am very nervous about it. I have the same feelings posted here. I feel I do a great job in LTC, but going to a critical care facility, I am nervous. What are they going to think about me, my skills, etc. Yikes! I will let you know how my transition goes. :icon_roll
  4. I second that Juwon. Same goes here in Central Pa. Nursing homes hire new grads around $30/hr and there is lots of overtime.
  5. Informative article. Does this also apply to highest degree earned other than in nursing? (ie AAS, BAAS,) For instance, would an RN write Maria, BSCS,RN or an LPN write Maria, BS,LPN confusing Maria:lol2:
  6. IF being an RN is your goal, definitely bypass the medical assistant course. You will get more valuable experience and have more options as an LPN. There are plenty of LPN-RN programs. An LPN program whether your credits transfer or not, will be more beneficial to you in your quest to become an RN. My : Go to an LPN program at a community college that also offers RN associates degree. Try to get into the RN program while finishing the LPN program, so your wait is less. Of course, if your situation allows for you to go straight into an RN program, that would be ideal. :tinkbll:Good Luck to you!
  7. high drop out rate and no support system
  8. Thanks for the replies. Yes, I've read several articles on the risks of restraints and using them as a last resort. Staff where I work seem to know what they are doing, I just haven't gone to the formal training yet. I was looking to get a head start. I will look into this MANDT. Thanks!
  9. Hi. I started a job in a children's home and I will be getting trained on restraint techniques. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some good resources on restraints. videos would be great. I'm a visual learner. Thanks for you input.
  10. Good Luck Sue. Let me know how it goes for you. Good Luck to you to Maura. Taking a break is always nice.
  11. Maura, can you tell me more about how the program is going for you? I would very much appreciate it. You can email me.
  12. Yes, Excelsior awards grades. I feel confident with their program. I just want to find other students that are currently in the program, so as to have some peer motivation and guidance. Sue, do you have plans on starting another program?
  13. Hello everyone. I graduated in May 09 and have decided to continue with Excelsior RN-MSN program. I get my motivation from hearing about other students success. I am trying to find those students and have been unsuccessful, except for a thread here and there. WHERE ARE YOU GUYS? I haven't enrolled in the program from fear that I will be all alone and easily discouraged. HELP!
  14. I graduated in May 2009. I never heard of anyone having to wait more than 8-9months for their CPNE date. Usually you can get in quickly if you are flexible in what site you would like to go to. After putting myself on a cancelation list, I called them when I felt I was ready and I got a date within the week. I did not go to my preferred testing site, but flexibility is key to getting a date sooner. Good Luck to you.
  15. New grad here, waiting for an opportunity. Sign me up.
