i know that mass general has extensive preceptorships for new grads in the icu.
there's a possibility they have the same orientations for the er.
it's worth looking into. much luck to you.

I went from school to the ER.....but I had been an Army medic and paramedic for more years than I care to remember and it was still hard to do. I strongly suggest you go and get a year's experience on the floor doing med-surg before you even think about ER. Even then, try to find one that has a preceptor program.
It's broken down two ways. Either a small ER where you're on your own (with no experience to draw from) or a big multi-trauma ER where you will be overwhelmed and eaten up. Trust that there is NO exception to the above for a new grad.

Mass General told me that they prefer up to 3 years on a Med Surg floor for a new grad before they consider them to work in the ER.

Depending on where you live in Ma there are many hospitals now offering internships to new grads.

I went as a new grad directly into a Level 1 truama center and well known Er with no Er and or pre-hospital experience If they are hiring new grads they will def. take you especially with the nursing shortage they need nurses in every dept. Just make sure you get into a hospital that offers a great orientation program for new grads that very important cause in an ER you can sink fast if your are just thrown into things Good Luck

I'd get at least a year of med/surg under your belt first.
There are hospitals that take new grads. Southcoast hospitals have a 6 month preceptorship program.
