So far I've been applying to all the hospitals through out NJ, Im also considering NY but to get the NY license it take about 2months and it still doesnt guarantee a job so I don't I have the patience to go through that. If hospitals in NY told me for sure I would get a job then I would invest the time and money.
Hey guys, I too graduated in Dec and got my license in Feb. I applied everywhere and finally got my first job. It is only PT and it is in psych. Maybe not your first choice but you have to take whatever you can get. I applied to over 300 jobs before getting an interview. I even started cold calling nursing homes.
As far as Bayada goes, you have to have 1 year of experience as a paid RN, in any field. As long as you have been working somewhere for a year as a RN they will consider you. So if you are passionate about peds and something that you want to do get in anywhere you can and then do your time. You may actually like what you end up doing. Thats what I had to do anyway.
I know New York is going through the same thing, well when I read their boards it seems like they are.
Just keep sending in those resumes and attending the career fairs and something will pop up. I know exactly how you feel so dont give up!!! I know its frustrating belive me but hang in there and good luck.
Thanx everyone for replying!! its just frustrating and hard to wait and have no one call u back, while hearing that no one is hiring new grads. I had no idea it was going be this hard when I started nursing school. well if anyone hears of anywhere thats hiring in new grads, i would love to know and i would do vice versa.

There's a job fair coming up from ADVANCE Nurses; taking place at the Javit center (NYC) on May 8th. Good Luck!!
I got my first job as a new grad (grad from Feb, 2009) from checking the jobs out that are posted on INDEED.com and checking the ones that were posted that morning. I would get in my suit (forget submitting on line) and go to the place in person and ask to fill out an application. Sometime I got lucky and was interviewed on the spot. On-Line applications are a waste of time, you are one of 1000's of pieces of paper. They never get to see the real you. This is how I came into my first job. GO OUT AND SELL YOURSELVES!!!!

Hey guys I graduated Nursing school in december and I passed my boards in feb. I have been looking and applying for jobs ever since and no one has called me for an interview. I've applied to over 30 positions! I'm really passionate about maternal child care, NICU, and peds but no one wants to give me an opportunity because I dont have experience. I am willing to take med surg or tele to get experience and then transfer to peds. Does anyone know hospitals hiring new grads currently? or hospitals hiring new grads that have peds in their hospitals? I'm so lost and i dono what else to do...any advice would be of greate help. thanx!!!
