Hi everyone! I recently graduated in May and finally received a job offer. I start soon and was wondering if any of you who are working in the Neuro and Spine Med/Surg units can tell me a little bit about your job. What do you like, some of the common things you see, what I should know before starting. I guess I'm a little nervous because my clinical rotations in school did not include neuro and spine unit. Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I see your in the LA area! So am I! Which part?

Specializes in Ortho, Neuro, Detox, Tele.

well I work ortho/neuro...so we see our share of spines/brains/etc....

Usually, it's just following the order set...helping them walk, neuro checks per protocol, keeping their spines in alignment, NO TWISTING!, and meds as needed. Not too different from med/surg generally...but it is VERY interesting to see how someone can come in with MAJOR pain issues...but after sx..MUCH better mobility and quality of life.

I'm going to be new to the area but will be in West Hollywood!
