I ahve an ADN and moved to the DFW area to find a job... no one down here will hire me.. I think they just toss my resumes.. HCA and a few other hospital finally told me they only will look at BSN's.. I am out of options does anyone have any ideas for me on hwere to go to get my first nursing job.. student loans are coming due.. HELP I am desperate.. there is not even a nursing home job in this area for a new grad.
A friend of mine is a new grad ADN and just got hired at an HCA hospital. I am a PCA at a Methodist hospital in the Houston area, and they just hired 3 new ADN grads on my floor. Maybe you are just not looking in the right places or something. Like others have said, be persistent! I wish you luck! Don't give up!
I am just a good a nurse as a BSN, I chose not to go that route because I didn't want to place my self further into debt, I should not have to get my BSN I have taken and passed the same boards as your precious BSN's. I am ready to go and sit on the corner of the medical district with a sign that pleads my case.
I never said you were not as good as a BSN. The problem is it doesn't matter what I think. The big hospitals want BSN. You don't have to like it or agree. I am originally a diploma nurse. I did get my BSN because I'm aware of the employment benefits.
You spent ALL your possible financial aid on an ADN?
I am an ADN. I graduated in May, passed boards June 4th. I moved from North Dakota to the Houston area. I got a job at an HCA hospital with only my ADN. I was offered my job instantly. Keep trying. If you really want this it will happen. One of the girls I was hired with has her BSN and it took over a year for her to get hired. So make your resume stand out.
