New Excelsior format anyone?

Hi,

I started the Excelsion exams with the new format and I wanted to see if there are people out there that have been taking those new exams.

I personally have taken Lifespan 1 and 2 and reproductive health. Now I am preparing for Lifespan 3.

Has any one on the new program reach the point to ask for the CPNE without having to take the FCC first since it is not available yet?. I would love to hear from people that are on the new Excelsior, I feel a little lonely doing this all by myself :icon_roll.

I don't know if anyone has actually TAKEN the FCCA yet. Last I heard they kept postponing that portion, then waiving it, if I understand correctly.

I know someone with more information than I will stop in and clarify. But maybe not until Monday.

As far as I was told they are hoping to have the FCC running by March 09 and if they don't and someone has all the other exams done they will let you ask for your CPNE appointment before you take the FCC. Then, once the FCC becomes available you can take it either before or after the CPNE. I am hoping to be done with all my other exams before March so I can ask for the CPNE without having to waist time taking the FCC, then I will have all the time in the world to take it since the CPNE takes about 7-9 months of wating period.

I am under the new curriculum and have taken all test and will take the CPNE in less than 2 weeks! Yikes! They will mail me the paper and pen format of the FCCA and I will have 10 days to return it to EC. Not sure when it will be ready on computer but right now you can take the CPNE before it.

NC Girl,

Good luck!!! When did you request your date for the CPNE exam? did it take a long time, they are saying it takes 7-9 months to get the date, was that the case for you?

Vanessa :nurse:

The date depends on where you want to test. I'm in NY and the wait isn't nearly as long as the other areas. I applied 12/31 and applied to the cancellation list and had a date within 4 months.

Wow a date within 4 months, that is great. What is the cancellation list?

NC Girl 35 or anyone else under the new curriculum who are done with their nsg courses. How long did it take for the advisors to update you as CPNE eligible? It's been over a week since my last exam and I'm ready to start getting my paperwork in :uhoh3:

TIA!

For the ones of you that are done with the new curriculum's nursing courses can you please give me a hint on how to study for the part I (Infectious and communicable diseases) and part II (tissue trauma). I feel that the information is all over the nursing books. I studied the other exams out of my LPN books and got great grades but these 2 parts make it a challenge to get all the information that I need out of my books. Did you all use other materials other than your nursing books???

I'm not sure which textbooks you used for your LPN program, but the only ones I was able to recycle were my maternity, nutrition, and fundamentals book. My med surg book was geared only for LPN's (it completely eliminated the assessment and diagnosis parts of the nursing process) and I bought the one recommended by excelsior. Boy was I glad I did this because it was literally twice as thick as my old one and was the staple of my studying.
