HI everyone, I sent in my application to do the direct entry into the Masters in Midwifery program but I do have to take the PA prerequisite course. The one that Frontier offers is $1700 and I was hoping to find a cheaper alternative. I looked into Canyon College but Frontier told me they don't accept their courses due to their accreditations. I read some posts of student that took statistics at Canyon college, I wonder if their accreditation has changed and now Frontier is not taking their courses anymore. Do you have any ideas of a cheaper way to get a PA course that will be accepted? Vanessa, RN

Hi friends, I just set up my lab and "hospital room" in my house and I started to practice at the wound station. I have 2 questions for you: 1. Is it acceptable if we say "now I am washing my hands" every time that we would do this in real life??? I know we are not expected to wash hands during the sim lab but I rather learn everything the way it would be in the patient's room. 2. When using the parachute method, you have to use both hands to accomodate the gauze in the wound properly.... in this case both hands get contaminated, aren't you supposed to keep one hand sterile so you can then grab the 4X4 and the abdominal pad??? I actually signed up for ALL the sites at NPAC, I wonder if that this a good idea... but honestly I don't see how I could choose since I do not know the sites! Vanessa

Hi friends, Tonight I jsut submitted my application for the CPNE, I am so happy and nervous!!! I submitted all the electronic documents but there was a little problem. The Criminal background file is .pdf and the EC site does not accept the .pdf file, how did you all do this??? Can EC access this report directly without me having to submit it??? Have you looked into programs that go from a non-nursing bachelors straight into a Masters in Nursing. Some colleges are offering this great formula for people that already have a 4 years degree. Vanessa

Hi friends, Once I pass all my nursing courses (I have 2 left) I will be ready to be CPNE elegible. But I was wondering if there is anything that I can do now to make the process smoother. I heard that I will need a physical, tb testing.... do I need all that before I am able to apply? I would appreciate your expert help, thanks Vanessa

I used my LPN book for this exam also and did very good but in my book it does not say that it was specifically written for LPN students. Even if you could just borrow the EC recommended book it could help you evaluate if your book is adequate for the EC exam. Vanessa
