How do you handle a new coworker who apparently knows EVERYTHING? She’s a CMA (medical assistant) who came from only primary care and peds, and we’re a surgical specialist. She’s still doing things the way primary does with their intake, even though we don’t need to assess their elevated cholesterol when pt is coming in for a postop appointment. I was telling her that I wanted her to go with me to see how to do a preop encounter and she waved me off, saying “yeah, just have them fill that out and remind them of their COVID test” and walked off. She’s tried telling me I’m doing things wrong when I’ve been in this speciality 14 years and in this location 7, along with being the LPN to her CMA. She’s driving all of us clinical staff, who’ve been working here several years, up the wall. Argh!

Have your clinic manager discuss with her. That's what they're paid to do

Yep, that is a manager task right there. Especially as she is a newbie to the group and messing up the group dynamic with her dismissiveness. She may not be a good fit.
