Hello everyone out there. My user name is nursewannabee because this is exactly what I am. I have been a visitor for about 2 years but have just joined today.
I have completed Nursing fundamentals at an LPN school but dropped out of the school due to nervousness. Is this a normal reaction? I have been thinking about going back to school because in my heart I really want to be a nurse. I have been thinking about going for my RN at New Hampshire Community Technical College in Manchester. Does any one know if this is a good program? I am also wondering if they would take my nursing Fundamentals course or if I would have to take it over. I passed the Capstone for Nursing Fundamentals so I am hoping that will make a difference.
If anyone has any insights into this please e-mail back. I look forward to being a member of this community.

:balloons: Hello and Welcome to Allnurses.com:balloons:
Glad you finally joined.
Yes, it is common for some to drop due to overwhelming anxiety. Don't worry about that. You can do it. Just hop back on that horse and ride off into the proverbial nursing sunset.:)
You stole my name! :chuckle
Oh well, I need to change mine anyway since I'm officially a nurse and no longer a wannabe!
Good luck in your journey. Just get yourself in the mindset that NOTHING is going to stop you from reaching your goal. I had to keep that attitude the entire time I was in school to keep from quitting due to the other students, instructors, etc.
Best of luck to you!
Welcome! I think it's great that you're going back. As others have said, don't let anything discourage you, you can do it! I don't know anything about that school, but I wanted to suggest that you check on the State's Board of Nursing website. It will show the school's Nclex passing rate. Good luck to you :)

Hi, I am also a nervous Nelly! Have you considered therapy for your anxiety?
Hi, I would like to thank everyone for giving me such encouraging words.
I really feel like the second time around will be a lot better.
I have seen a counselor for my anxiety but he only told me things I had read in self help books.
Isn't there a magic pill out there somewhere? If only it was that easy.
Actually, a friend of mine that I was attending nursing school with said that her husband who is a Dr. had used anti-anxiety medication to help get through med school and that a number of his classmates had done the same.
Well anyways, it is 2:10 AM and I have to get up at six to go to work.
I will talk too everyone later.
Love and peace
