I'm a new member and very happy to be here. It's very likely that in the next few days I will recieve an offer for a new position! ADON of a nursing home. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. :balloons:

snook, WELCOME!!!:welcome:
If you have never done LTC think long and hard about accepting
it is a position where you make schedules and never have enough staff to cover. I have been in LTC as an LPN for 12 years and as an RN since May . I am a staff development coordinator. I personally would never be an ADON.( BUT asking people to work is my weakness)
However You may love it. You will have to accept you can't be friends with your staff to be an effective leader. Good Luck.
I am definitely giving the ADON position a try, but I do get your message, Biker, and I appreciate the input:idea:
Good Luck and if I can help just let me know. It will be a challenge but it sounds like you are ready. LTC is very rewarding. and I do have to admit I do miss being on the floor. But what I do is too.
Biker,
Tell me a little more about what it is I should expect. I have never worked long term care, so as an ADON I need to learn quick. Any suggestions?
