Hello! I just found this board a few days ago, and I have to say I'm so glad I found it! I'm 27, married, and a mom to three children, and I made the decision to go back to school for nursing. I work part time as a CNA, and am going to school full time. I just started my pre-reqs this semester, and already it's a really heavy load! I have a bone practical coming up on Tuesday, and I'm really sweating this one! Our anatomy class has a reputation of an 80% failure rate the first time around, at first I figured it was just a rumor, but after these first few weeks, and with the TON of information that is being taught, I completely believe it now! I just hope I have the ability to get through it all.
Anyway, just wanted to say "hi" to everyone! I've already found a lot of helpful things here. Thanks!

Using flash cards with another person/group of people is the BEST study method IMO. You get practice both from answering, asking, and hearing other people ask/answer questions. I also find I remember the other side of the card better than I can remember a note.
Our bone test is comming up monday.. but ours is different.. we label them weds.. but monday is our "bone system" test.. testing on osteons, fale osteons, etc.... im really pumped up about it.
PS> It helps to find something of interest before you goto class.. you absorb WAY more when your interested. Since you have kids, maybe look up something on WebMD about children's bones, then when you goto class youll pay attention
That's a GREAT idea about looking up something about childrens bones on the net! It is weird how when you're interested in something that it soaks in more.
Didn't do so hot on my bone practical....I was a little upset, but not enough to give up! The hardest part for me was not the bones themselves, but all the little stuff on them, like the processes, and the notches, etc. Ours was set up so that each bone was set on a table, and he had several spots on them numbered...so first we had to figure out what we thought each number was, then flip through a 17 page answer key and find the answer, then mark it on the scantron.....took me the whole 2 hour lab period to get it done.
Still have two more practicals to get through (muscle and organ), plus a bunch more tests, so I'm hoping I can redeem myself. Had a histology test today, and left feeling pretty confident about it. Crossing my fingers!

You're class sounds exactly like mine was. I noticed you're from the midwest. Do you think it's possible we go to the same school? It just seems so similar. I could be completely wrong too.
