New to allnurses, questions about Excelsior

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

Hi all, I am currently a LPN. Thinking about going the Excelsior route. I have taken A&P 1 and 2, but the first A&P was over 5 years ago, will I have to take that over?

Specializes in HH, Peds, Rehab, Clinical.

Oh I agree it was an older article. My point was just to say that colleges like these tend to get ink for more negative things as opposed to positive.

Yeah, that was settled quite a while ago. Some students were unhappy that a competency-based program didn't teach. Some were reimbursed the cost of the clinical exam, others got $250 or something along those lines. I think the more stringent admission requirements are a result of this.
Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

What, colleges that are not-for-profit Centers of Excellence? Lol! :D

Excelsior College School of Nursing designated a “Center of Excellence in Nursing Education” for the fourth consecutive time - Excelsior College

Specializes in Med/Surg, LTACH, LTC, Home Health.
Thanks, no I have not applied yet. I wanted to know about the A&P's first before I applied.

The A&P exam through Excelsior is just one exam that covers all the content of 1&2. There is no lab component with the exam. I'm not sure about the course option. If you choose the exam option, some other institutions (if you decide to go for a BSN) may not accept those particular credits unless you complete the lab portion. Of course, EC offers an RN-BSN program, too.;)
