The local job market in Austin is flooded with too many nurses and not enough jobs for everyone who would like to work. Although it is a beautiful city, the cost of living in Austin is high and the nursing pay rates are low.
San Antonio has a low cost of living, low pay rates, and better job prospects for nurses.
I live in San Antonio, Last saturday I applied for a position at one of the local hospital networks (only because I am ready for a change, I do have a job). Anyhow, called for interview on monday, hired the next day. Seems to me there is a ton of work here; send your resume or apply online and see what happens! Good luck!
Hi all, I was thinking of moving to Texas but I would like to know how is is finding jobs in the Austin/San Antionio area? I would have a year of experience being a LPN before I come, and I want to do a LVN-RN program there. Thanks for any answers!
I was hired at North East Baptist Hospital in L&D , but they only worked me in PP which was nice, but I quit a few months ago due to accepting another job, but I know that they hired LVNs there. They have a few other hospitals around the city as well.
Thank you for the replies! I don't plan on moving until next year, just wanted to get the gist of things. How are the LVN-RN programs there? Where I am at they have none! And the online schools are not excepted.
Thank you all!
