NEU Direct Entry Online Program Starting Spring 2013

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hi Everyone,

I got accepted into the Online Direct Entry Nursing Program at Northeastern University and will be starting in Spring 2013. I'm nervous, but very excited to start a new chapter in my life. Spring is right around the corner and I'd like to start it off great. Does anyone know if a page have been created for the cohort starting in spring 2013 yet? Either on here or a different site, such as facebook? I'm moving from California and I'd like to meet people to hang out, study and share advice with. You can definitely be from a different cohort. Any advice is definitely welcome.

Thank You.

Hi there, I am also fom Cali and like you am nervous to move but also excited to start the nursing program. I am also wondering if there is a website for our cohort so please keep me updated.

Hello All,

I am thinking about applying for this program soon- I was just wondering if any of you knew if it is possible to just do the BSN? I'm not interested in the options they are offering for MSN online and would rather apply for that to another school...do people do this? Is there any penalty for withdrawing with just the BSN?

Thanks so much!

Emily

Hi Emily,

Yes it is possible to just do the BSN portion. It's the first 15 months of the program :) Best of luck applying!

Sincerely,

Emily

Hey everyone, I just applied to this program to start this fall 2013 cycle. I am currently in the process of almost completing all my prerequisites and finally completed the application. I am a male so my friend shave been battering me on this new path as usual. My overall GPA was a 3.3 and Pre Req GPA is a 3.6. I have been volunteering at Dana Farber for several months now. Three pretty good recommendations from my research assistant job as a psychiatric specialist, advisor and dana farber. I was wondering if everyone could elaborate on what they applied with and if i have a chance.

Thank You,

Samme

What is your monday through friday time requirements on campuses

Yes, I would be very interested to know how often one needs to be at the Burlington campus...is there a convenient public transport way for that if you're in Boston?

Just thought I would update this since someone was kind enough to PM me the information I was asking for. It seems in your first term you have 1 day/week lab, 1 day/week clinical and 1-2 days/week of exams. The skills lab is on the Boston campus and the exams are at the Burlington one. Clinicals obviously, can be anywhere....you also have 5 classes first term but they are all online and self paced.

Second term you have 4 online classes

2 clinicals

1 skills lab

1/2 days of exams ( Burlington)

total of 4/5 days commuting

Third term

3 classes

2 clinicals

0 labs

1/2 exams ( Burlington)

Commuting: 3/4 days a week

Final term ( for BSN)

2 classes

2 clinicals

1/2 exams

I'm sorry I don't know how many hours per day the lab skills are or how many per day the clinicals are yet, but if anyone knows and would like to share that would be great. If I find out that information I'll post here.

Thanks for the info EmmKay! Have you applied yet? I'm starting this May.. 3 days after my graduation from my undergrad :bored:. I'm trying to tie up all loose ends before I start! For those of you who started already last month, what should I be doing to prepare?? How are you liking the program? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hey!

I'm in my second semester in the program. Labs are 3 hours a week, and each clinical is 6 hours/ week! If you have any other questions let me know!

Hey hellosun!

I can't DM but if you DM me your email I can answer your questions! :)

hi Kcarm,

Thanks for your post! That really helps those of us hoping to apply...I'm also wondering does anyone take public transport into Burlington? I just can not afford to get a car the next few years and I'm wondering if I can do my clinicals without or car pool or something?
