  1. when do we find out if we got the scholarship?
  2. what's everyone doing for tuition? what loans are you guys taking out?
  3. I'm pretty sure you would be looking at off campus housing, which in boston would be like $1100-1200 for 1 bdrm [mission hill is closest neighborhood]...best bet would be to craigslist and get a room [~$600-$800] or talk to someone in the program. From what I hear you need at least a 3.0 and mostly A's in your prerequisites as most students have who are getting in...I'm hoping I get in I'm still working on prerequisites!
  4. I'm fine with the BSN portion, administration sounds attractive too but I just don't know if its worth the price of admission... Dstewart are you considering doing the administrative masters or doing something different?
  5. I wouldn't mind an administrative role but my question is, is there demand for individuals with this type of degree? Or is it the type of degree that you have to be working as a nurse for a long time and hopefully someone quits/leaves that position at the hospital before you get into that role [from what i hear its one of the most coveted positions and turnover isn't great]? or would you be able to get something right out of the gates...I would love to hear from someone that knows someone or has this degree and their experience gaining employment.
  6. Hey everyone! I saw that Northeastern has this direct entry BSN to MS in nurse administration. I haven't heard much about nurse administration in the discussions so I was wondering is this degree even marketable after graduating? I guess you can go directly to the MS part but am I going to be working as a nurse for like 8 years before I land an administrative position? They also have a neonatal NP option, BUT you have to work as a neo natal nurse before entering the NP portion... HAH! try finding one of those jobs in Boston [or 100 mile radius] I says to myself. So to sum up, is nurse administration a graduate degree that is going to pay off or will I end up nursing for a really long time [which i don't mind, but when I spend the extra 55K to get that MS degree that is kind of frustrating] because those "administrative" jobs are so few as I would imagine? I appreciate all the help I can get on this one!
  7. what happens if you don't pay your nursing student loans....
  8. maybe they are thinking of going overseas because they have no jobs and student loans are crippling?
  9. unless you have another job...take it, there aren't a lot of jobs out there! you never know it might be 1 year before you get another job and by then you wouldn't have used any skills!! try and work out a schedule like 3 twelve hour shifts so its worth your time.
  10. doesn't seem too bad
  11. just one big business!
  12. 49 Patients=sweatshop, cant dispute that...Nursing profession appears to be going downhill...not only are they understaffing, but they cutting benefits because everybody and their mother are becoming nurses and the field is just saturated with nurses. its still considered one of the few remaining liveable jobs for people in the US, but i dont know for how long....the only people making out are the bloodsucking nursing schools who charge upwards of 60k for a bsn these days....one word sums up this race-INSANE
  13. 100k+ really tho? i think that tuition is borderline criminal
  14. What is your monday through friday time requirements on campuses
  15. Do they help you with job placement? What are the NCLEX style exam questions like, are they harder than normal?
