Net test

I am going to take the Net test this August. Can anyone from TCC tell me about it. Is it a hard test. What is the minimum score that you need to make to get into the nursing program. I am very anxious about the test and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am not going to TCC but I took the NET test at OCCC last year. It is over math, reading comprehension, and I think grammer. There are other sections in the test as well but they are only to evaluate your learning style. Those extra sections are forwarded to the nursing department but are not tabulated in your score. I bought a NET study guide and it really helped me a lot. The NET is a timed test. I have always been a fairly strong reader and was more concerned with the math portion. Turns out, I flew through the math portion and ended up almost running out of time in the reading comp section. I would recommend that you buy the study guide and do a couple of mock tests while timing yourself. The math is basically decimals, fractions, division, and multiplication. Anyway, I ended up passing, I think you have to score a 75 or better but I am not 100% on that. Good luck with it, I'm sure you will do fine.

I didn't think the NET test was too bad, but definitely buy the study guide.

I took it a couple of years ago at TCC and I passed with scores in the 80's for reading and in the high 70's for math. I was told by the councelor that even though I passed the test, that I may want to re-take the math portion in order to have a more competitive score. I was mad because I had studied so hard for that stupid thing! Oh! In the math, there is basic algebra also.

Buy the book! It's $40 but if you study it (like I did) you'll do great. I got in the 97% percentile - dont think I would have made such a good grade w/o the book.

Also, at TCC - be prepared for an essay question as well..we got to pick from two: I chose: Is health care a right or a priveledge and why? Cant remember what the other one was. They just want to make sure you can write proficiently. Also, there was a trick question: If your ship wrecked on a deserted island and you only had the things listed - list the items in order of importance. (Sunglasses, san tan lotion, 2 L bottle of water, umbrella, first aid kit...etc.)

Best of luck to you!
