I failed reading by 2 points (had 58). I took the NET at GCC. I know I have to wait 60 days before I can take it again. My question is, is this rule only for Maricopa CCs? Can I take the NET somewhere else in Arizona? And do I need to wait 60 days from today or can I take it, let's say, next week somewhere else?

When I testing into nursing school we took the NLN test which is more difficult than the NET. That was in Prescott and Flagstaff.
I was looking at GCC website for the LPN Fast Track and it says that 50% is required for both math and reading. Somebody please say it is true...

Glina,
I think how soon you re-take the test depends on the institution you're applying with.
For instance:
ASU will let you re-take once within the same application cycle but there needs to be 30days between test dates.

BUT, I spoke to an advisor at Grand Canyon University back in May and she said they will allow you to take it as many times as you want & they will take the highest score. Drawback is their test is the paper version but this can be a plus for the reading comprehension part.
(They don't post any of that info, so I could be wrong)
I did read on the Maricopa County College website that there is a 60 day waiting period between tests with a maximum of 3 attempts in a twelve month period.
Each school has their own criteria for the NET. I believe I read on the Maricopa County Community College website that their minimum requirements are 60 Reading & 50 Math. Unfortunately because nursing school is in such high demand right now, the minimums won't guarantee acceptance.

Check out this website to brush up on some skills. Totally helped me when I took the NET.

Most important of all.... DON'T GIVE UP! You will get there! I know its difficult when the your scores aren't what you were expecting, but try to think of it as practice. You're bound to improve the next time around.

Is there a calculator that you can use on the computer for the math part?

I feel your pain and I'm so sorry you didn't get through the first time. Don't let this get you down. I am terrible at math myself and was extremely nervous about the NET. In fact, the thought of the math portion on the NET nearly kept me from going out for nursing. I put off taking the NET for months due to the fear of failing the math portion. Thankfully, my dad and a friend of mine helped tutor me after I bought some study guides and accessed some online resources with sample questions. We studied for about two weeks each day and I ended up passing it the first time I took it. I have two friends who did not get through the math portion themselves. On the second try, they both passed.
Based on my experience, I think the best thing you can do is cram beforehand and go in there with the attitude that you are going to tackle that math portion in round #2. Try it again as soon as you can, and make sure to study what you think you missed the first time. The first few questions are simple math- addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc. As the test progresses the questions get more challenging. Do the best you can, make sure you take your time with the first few questions and get them right since they are easy. If you think about it, you will even get some questions right by default since it is multiple choice and you are bound to even randomly select some correct. At least you know what the test looks like now so you can better prepare and study. Don't let anxiety get the best of you. Best of luck my friend. You can do it!

Okay, maybe someone already answered this in a previous post or thread, but I have not been able to locate it. There is conflicting information on what sections are on the NET. The NET study guide mentions a basic science portion and written expression portion (English skills), but I cannot find this information anywhere else. Everywhere else I look it says there is reading comp, math, learning styles, reading rate, test taking skills, stress level and social interaction. I understand that they only look at reading comp and math, but would someone kindly advise me as to exactly what sections are on the NET, please. Thank you.
I did find another thread on this from not long ago, but the person responding had taken the NET a year ago. Anyone taken the NET more recently with some insight for me?
