I am going to apply for NELRP for 2010. I am getting married in June '10. I am wondering if when I apply, will they look at my debt to income ratio or that of me and my husbands combined income once we are married, since we are getting married in the middle of the application process. If anyone knows I would love to know. My debt to income ratio by my self is 268%, but much less with my fiances income added. Right now I live with my parents and am struggling to pay my loans.
Just got my letter in the mail and I could not be happier!!! The contract is effective starting the end of this month, 7/26. Haven't gotten a deposit, but man I can't wait to send in that first month of loan payments. :D:D Oh man though, those taxes are a crime! I can't complain, just saying. However, 60% turns into 40% after taxes. But I'll take it.
For those curious, I work at a DSH in Chicago and my ratio is 266%.
I would say if you were contacted late May for contract/verification, definitely check your mail. If you haven't gotten your contract though, don't give up hope, I think they're just doing it in stages this year as opposed to lump summing everyone in September. It would make sense as it eases the burden of initiating all those contracts at the same time.

End of August, did your packet come with a FAQ at the back? It states "The first direct deposit will be made approximately 30 days from the effective date of the contract." So around August 26th I would guess, which can't get here soon enough. :)
I'm still holding out hope... I just looked at my application and under my qualifying loans area I had two loans that had a date change of just two days ago..8/3/10.. so they must still be hard at work trying to get more applications completed. :) Good Luck everyone!!
I JUST got my email to sign my acceptance, contract, and send bank info. I had all but lost hope that I was still in the running! Now just going to eagerly await my official contract in the snail mail....
I am hoping to apply in 2011.... I work at a severely underpaid DSH hospital, and in theory my outstanding undergrad loan balance exceeds half of my yearly income, including a bit of OT hours.
My question is.... if you are awarded funds and sign the contract, are your service years retroactive? Meaning, if you have already worked at said hospital for a year at the time of application/acceptance to the program, do you still owe 2 years from this point? Or do they include your previous year and require only one more?

I got accepted!!! My contract went to my parents house a couple of days ago and they just called today to let me know that I got a letter. I'm soooo very grateful for this!!! To everyone that is still waiting, just stay prayed up...it will happen
So this is sort of strange, but it is just something I noticed. When I log in to NELRP there is an exclamation point (!) after my name at the top of the page. I found this to be a little odd and wondered if anyone else has this too. Could it possibly be a clue!? I recieved my email around 7/20 and have been anxiously awaiting some good news.

I got an email from the NELRP today saying that I am a potential recipient! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
