Hi!!
Does anyone know where I can get the blue plastic tubex's?? I would like to get a few if I can find them. I have tried looking just about everywhere. We have one in our entire hospital (small hospital!!) and it was thrown in the sharps container today.
Thanks!!
Hi. My name is Brian and I live in Oklahoma. I recently obtained my paramedic certification and I am a practicing paramedic. I would like to know where and how I could attain one of the old tubex twist style injectors. I know it may sound silly but I would be willing to buy it. Please write back, anyone for that matter, if you have info for me. Thanks to all who hear this and can respond.
http://www.pocketnurse.com sells a carpu-ject, and I found a possibility at this site
http://www.angelfire.com/oh/ohiodeal/labmed/medicalsupplies.html for about 4bux,
and if not available, try here:
http://sscweb.psc.gov/catalog/nsns_6515.pdf
for about 6bux, but no guarantee they'll sell to ya.
I think the company Wyeth makes the holder, and if I'm not mistaken, Wyeth is not going to manufacture cartriges anymore, so you may have to find another brand name.. ? Get 'em while they're hot!

Thanks. I am assuming the message for wyeth search was for me. I quickly looked today and I might not be looking in the right spot, but I only found a pharmacy site. They did not have anything besides OTC drugs. I have asked several medics that have been in the field and even nurses at the hospitals we transport to. I thank you so much and I'm not giving up till I find one for myself. If you come up with any other ideas I'm very receptive to places to look. Thanks again.

I asked my old manager where she got these when they were giving them out in our facility. She got them from the pharmacy, but added that she hasn't requested them in a LONG time because pharmacy quit filling her requests.
I'll ask our one of our pharmacy guys if they're still available and from whom.
We are no longer allowed to have a personal one because of contamination risk! We have to get a cleaned one, and leave it in the rooms. We have chosen to put it on top of our sharps or gloves containers (we have a flat surface on top not touching either containers for safety) which can be seen from the doorway so we don't wind up with 30 tubexes in a room from us all bringing them in...LOL!
As far as getting them when we need them, I let my charge nurse know so they can order some through work. If I can't have my own...then sorry...not my dime then either! LOL!
I rarely use them anyway...I transfer them via needle to a lurlock syringe because most of my patients get kinda freaked out or feel I am OLD school if I use them...LOL! Plus, heck...I don't want to have to explain time and time again "what is that thing????". LOL!
Boy did this thread just come in handy. I just threw my last carpujet in the sharps and I could shoot myself! It was the last one I had after 3 years. Bleh. My old hospital - i could get them from pharmacy. This one doesn't carry them but with all the heparin, dilaudid and morphine we give, it saves me a lot of time drawing it up into a separate syringe! Thanks so much guys!!!!!
There is a Wyeth-Ayerst TUBEX Injector for sale on eBay - here is the link:

Not sure if this is what you are talking about?

I'd forgotten all about Tubexes. I haven't seen one in years.
I know I have one of the hard, light blue plastic screw in ones buried somewhere....
Yes- the one I have somewhere is just like the one in the pic above. I had no idea they were still in use anywhere.
