i was just wondering if i could have some encouragement right now. i feel soooo burned out right now..i am finishing my last pre-req for school (micro) before i begin the nursing program in the fall. i have put a lot of time into my pre-reqs and have come out making a's in all my classes but i am feeling extremely "uninterested" right now. will the actual nursing courses make much of a difference? i can't tell if i am burned out or if i am ready for the real thing! i also need some encouraging from mothers (or fathers) who made it through nursing school with a husband and children. i have 1 daughter--i don't know, i guess i just need some encouragement! thanks to all!
You sound like I did after finishing Micro. It gets better. I'm in the second semester Nsg 210 and really looking forward to getting on the floor to use what we've learned so far. The first semester was kinda boring because of all the bookwork but it really got you ready for the rest of the program. Hang in there you're in for one wild and crazy ride. :roll Froggy
MelH,
Looks like you're getting some great advice. Remember, just when you thingk it can't possibly get any worse -- it does!
You may not believe it, but the 'junk' you have to slog through may actually have some use in the future. Years from now, when you're interpreting a patient's wound culture results, you'll probably 'flash back' to those microbiology slides and it will make more sense.
I did it too -- family & kids, the whole nine yards -- through AD, BSN, MSN & EdD. Early on, I decided I had to prioritize & give up a few things -- like laundry and cooking on weeknights. Luckily, I had a wonderful husband who took these on... and kids who didn't mind if all their socks turned pink.

Yeah, major stress. But, the good thing is just when you're ready to pick up the instructor and throw them out the window...the term is over. Just like that!
