Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Waiting on acceptance for upcoming fall only prereqs I'm missing is a&pii...I know nursing school is very busy, my heart is in it so i think learning the information would be more fun than challenging my ? Is ....for this summer schedule should I take a&pii (I still plan to be enrolled 12hrs in the fall anyway...financial aid) or would it be more sufficient if I gaind a cnaii certification just to gain that clinical experience & possibly obtain parttime employment @ a hospital. I am a mother of three w/ a very supportive husband......need help & really want to gain as much experience possible. I plan to further education & become crna!!!! Help me please

Did not know of those funky testing uugghhh most ADN programs do have those dreadful math test w/ 2chances...so Ive heard. I also heard the instructors can be a little rough! Lets see....there were about 200 applicants (100 selected) they couldn't remember precisely but the highest possible points was 84 lowest being in the 50's. But I was hearing 40s. It all depends on our applicant pool. I just want this nightmare to be over...fast. At least FTCC offered information for prospective students the other institute I applied to...we dont find out til June & I have no clue what to expect. Oh, & about NUR 111....I did attempt to register, it would not let me. So I called department chair justtttt t to make sure and you can not register unless admitted. Soooooo I dont know what that was. They had there last info session today then its going to take about three days to process additional points. We could possibly see something as early as next week no later than first week in May. Still staying positive.

Also we were told that there were very few who scored at an Advanced level for the TEAS. The numbers were very high at Proficient levels which makes the situation just a little better, I guess!! Im still trying to figure out why NUR 111 had registered numbers beside it lol I will be calling in the morning. Do you know of anyone who recently got a switch in advisors (switched to a instructor actually in the program) before the dates of information sessions were emailed out?

Well I have no earthly idea why they would be letting ppl register if they haven't accepted anyone.. There are a lot of holes. The only thing that makes sense is that these ppl had to be accepted.. But i am trying to think positive. Kinda makes me nervous. It seems like you all got a lot of information at your session..

Do you think they may have seperate registration for the LPN to RN students or maybe this is a special registration for ppl who are repeat students.. Idk it all really doesn't make sense.. I don't personally know anyone who is applying so I'm sure about the change in instructors

The LPN-RN students had their own information session date...they are different from us. We are starting from scratch and they are a more accelerated program (what they said). I had a list of questions lol I wanted to know....everything! It would seem people have been accepted already as well with those registration numbers. What is more confusing is 100 is accepted but each section of NUR 111, has up to 30 slots (how is that)....I will be finding out in the morning (uhhuh) I didnt know anyone either. I did however, exchange information with two other students. Dont think they have heard anything as well. I know I need to sleep...and it has not been happening. I sure hope we get in girlI already started buying books off of Amazon. Is this your first time applying to FTCC ADN program?

I hope we get in too and YES I have bought books on pharmacology cause I know that's gonna be a biggie. I also spent money on apps for my iPad and iPhone that are "suppose" to be helpful while in school.. Anyway, the whole process is really confusing and has so many loop holes, never a straight answer. I have had many sleepless nights thinking of the "what ifs". I personally have a lot riding on whether I get accepted. Sometimes I even feel sick to my stomach when I think about it.. Why must they drag us thru all this suspense???? Lol. All of my points total I will be in the mid 60's, so I am praying for a miracle!!

Oh gosh....you should be fine then. You seem to be a gadget girl...lol...I will have my tablet (if needed during study time), my good ole hardback unbounded textbooks and an IPod. It’s a good thing though because electronics are allowed during clinical to use for a point of reference (of course not phones). Skyscape has really expensive downloadable software for nursing students that has all the helpful apps to use. You can even purchase an IPod with the materials already on it...that’s IF you want to spend about $400 lol but they do have a couple of free apps as well. As of yesterday, the countdown can really begin now. DUNDUNDUN :banghead:
