I just found out/realized that I'm not going to be paid $500/week but $500 total for the 5 week commitment I signed up for. I am devastated. I have no idea how I misunderstood this for so long. I want to do it anyway but I can't afford to not be paid for so long, my mortgage would not get paid. Does anyone know of any camps that could use a nurse quickly, that would pay American dollars as well as waive tuition? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Try camp vacamas in Nj, they also have camps in upstate Ny. They need nurses. Google it or I can message or email thew #
No worries, I found another job almost immediately. I had several to choose from in the first day of looking, there's still lots of camp jobs available!

You wonder what all these camps do if they can't find a nurse? I cannot imagine not having positions filled with less than a moth to go until the season starts.
I know, right? I was surprised how many jobs were still out there. Some I spoke to insisted that they couldn't pay, only do a tuition swap. At this point in the game, they might want to change their tune if they want to fill these positions.
I know nurses are generously paid by camp standards. However camp standards often don't measure up to the bills that the average adult has. By virtue of needing a professional, they are going to be hiring someone with more responsibility in their normal life than the collage student counselors. However some camps really seem to have either no budget or no desire to pay a nurse market value. I have also found you have to negotiate HARD to get what you need.

WHHHHHAT??!?! Is that even legal? I think minimum wage is like $7.25/hr I'm no expert or anything, but that doesn't sound rite at all! I mean I could see if it was a volunteer position, maybe. I hope you get it worked out, that sounds crazy. Good luck to you!
Well, like you said, people have mortgages and financial obligations. Though it would be nice to be able to volunteer if your in that type of situation, not everyone is. Anyway, i read where you got that situation, and I'm very happy for you. Good going, Sue.
