If it was something that I truly wanted to do, then, yes I would attempt to take the exam again. It has been a long time since you have graduated, so, it will be a big time commitment to get back into the swing of things. You might try a refresher course and an NCLEX review course - (Hurst would probably be great for you since it is a content based review and they have a PN version).
Since you have been out of school for so long, your state BON might require that you take a refresher course, I am not entirely sure of this....just my thinking...hopefully someone can come along and prove me right or wrong. You might get in touch with your state BON to see if there would be any extra requirements since you have been out of school since 2007.
A lot has changed since 2007 - you should look at the new NCLEX test plan and use that as your guide. There are also many threads here on AN that you might find of assistance while navigating through your studying.
You state that your friends are telling you to go back to take this exam...do YOU want to try again? This will not be easy. YOU have to have the will power and the want to buckle down and get back into this.
Best wishes in whatever you decide.
Thank u

All the best to you. It will be a fight but you can do it. I graduated in 2008 but never took my NCLEX RN back then because of situations beyond my control. I was able to do it in 2013 and still in the fight but not giving up. I will do a refresher course which I should of done in 2013 but didn't know about it. I spent a lot of money on review programs and people who are milking money out of people like me who are trying to pass the NCLEX. I should of invested all that money in a RN refresher course instead. Do your research on a refresher program or what's works for you. Take care and be strengthened on your journey of passing the NCLEX. You will pass!
Thank u and good luck with u as well.
Thank you. If you're in New York there's a refresher course at Adelphi University in Long Island.
