Need Nursing Program anywhere with short wait list!

Published

I am currently a Pre-Nursing student in Phoenix, AZ. I am going to be applying for schools after the Fall '09 semester and was curious to know if any schools in your state have no wait list. In Phoenix it is currently 2 years and I'd love to avoid it if possible. Relocating seems to be the option to do so, any help is greatly appreciated. By the way this is for the RN program, I'll be working on BSN at a later time.

Thank you for the response.

MN State College Technical Colleges have no wait list, they base acceptance on whether they feel you will be a good candidate for the program (I'm sure there is some sort of criteria they use to judge that, but they don't tell us exactly what they are looking for). You must have ALL pre-reqs done to apply to the nursing program. Applications are due Sept. 1st for acceptance to the spring '10 semester.

I don't know any associate programs that DON'T have a waiting list. From what I've heard, it's only gotten worse since I graduated 2 years ago. You will have to wait a bit, but having all of the prerequisites done prior to coming out to NJ would help reduce your wait time at certain schools.

Best of luck!

I wish I could help. Are you looking for your ADN or BSN?

I'm in CA (bay area) and some people I know have been on waitlists for 3+ years! Whatever you do, don't move to CA. Competition here is just as fierce!

Thank you to everyone who has helped out with responses. I'm definately looking into the schools mentioned so far.

West Coast University (CA) does not have a wait list. It's a 3 year accelerated program and you don't have to have your prereqs done to start . . . that said its EXPENSIVE.

I have started my prerequisite work and will be finished by the end of this year. That said, i'll be starting applications for some of the schools in the silicon valley area, which I've heard was already utterly impacted so i appreciate the names of schools given here (particularly the suggestion from SwirlyThing). I've also heard that schools on the east coast aren't as impacted so i'm wondering if someone could shed some light on that myth for me.

I also have just gotten my BA, with a low 2.7GPA (science gpa is even lower), so I'll be attempting applications at some of the ABSN programs, but would also like to apply for the ASN/ADN route as a backup.
