Nurses General Nursing

Currently I work on a psych unit - I am ready to quit if I don't get a change now. The politics is killing me. Anyway any advice out there on which way to go. I was thinking about a doctors office? Or even working with Alzheimers/dementia pts? I am still unsure about what area would suit me best. I do not want high acuity, or a huge floor (like med-surg). I was also thinking about infertility nursing since I know firsthand about those issues, and am educated on my own with that. I think I would like dealing with pts 1:1 and be able to be supportive to them. But I am scared to try something again that may not work out - then I'm stuck again for another year. (we can only transfer once a year)

Well if you are unhappy now, you have very little to lose by changing jobs. You can try something else and maybe be unhappy or stay where you are and be guaranteed to be unhappy. Good luck.

One great thing about nursing is the variety of job settings from which to chose from.

I recently changed jobs because I was unhappy, and it has certainly been a change for the better ~ although still stressed (what job doesnt have that as a PERK - haha), I am simply happier.

Best of luck to you.

trixie, since you're ready to quit...go for the change, you seem pretty stressed and...you'll never know unless you try :)

life is too darn short to be unhappy, and you're not right now

good luck, let us know how you're doing
