Need a little motivation/advice!!

Published

I am 20 years old and basically ready to apply to nursing school to get my BSN. Problem is I am very nervous to apply to nursing school and need some motivation to get me going! I have a 3.62 GPA, B in anatomy, A in physiology and A in micro. I have done pretty well however I have not done any hospital volunteering, BUT I do work at a retirement community. With that, I still don't feel like its good enough so I'm reluctant to start applying to schools, and my goal is to be admitted for Fall 2014. I go to a CC in California but I am from Washington State. I'm planning to apply to Pacific Lutheran University in Washington, Oregon Health and Science University, and Linfield in Oregon. Anybody have any other suggestions of BSN programs to apply to in the Western region? Any advice or comments would be very much appreciated! :)

Put in that application and start your journey. Look deep inside and your motivation will be found!

Have you taken the TEAS?

You may or may not be accepted into a pre-licensure BSN program with a 3.62. You might consider applying to ADN programs as well, and doing a bridge program later. You can also apply to private universities (which are much more expensive, of course), because the average accepted GPA is lower, but so are their NCLEX pass rates, generally.

I haven't really seen anywhere where volunteering even gets factored in (and I applied to 10 BSN programs in the CSU system when I applied). Don't stress about that.

Knock the TEAS out of the park (get the ATI study guide!), cast a wide net, and stay positive! :)
