Need list textbooks Bohecker (Fortis) college,

Nursing Students General Students

Hi, I am enrolled in Fortis College, Ravenna. They include the price of books in their tuition, which is nice, but at $2,000.00 (for the first semester), I feel I'm being ripped off. For me $2.000.00 is a lot of money, I know I could find the same books for maybe a quarter of that price online. I asked my admissions rep for a list of the books but she said students are required to buy the bundle and declined to give me the list of books. I was wondering if I have the option of getting the list someplace else. I know schools are required to disclose this information due to the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008.

That is a rip off. You can get your books online for a third of the price. And what they're doing is illegal. I suggest you read this, print it off, and personally hand it to the person who told you that you had to buy the bundle and wouldnt give you the book list.

Here it is:

It just went into effect this month. If it doesnt work, I would go to a higher authority.

More than likely they have had the books formatted so that they are specifically made for this school. My school has a few of those books, but I buy them used from other students, otherwise I would be stuck buying them at the school.

That fact sheet applies to publishers. The college isn't the publisher.

The first 2 rules apply to the publisher, the last rule applies directly to the college.

She asked for a list of the books and the rep didnt give them to her, according to the fact sheet thats against the new law. Even if the books are made only for her school she still has a right to know the individual title and ISBN number of each book in the bundle.

I understand your frustration, but if Bohecker is putting the cost of books in your tuition then I don't see how buying them elsewhere will help. They are saying you have to buy through them so to me it sounds like they are going to charge you for the books regardless. I went to Bohecker for another (worthless) degree and it was the same when I was there years ago. I hope you get this worked out.

I would just like to add that just by going to Fortis, you are likely being ripped off. They have a very poor reputation in my community.

Bohecker (Fortis) was kicked out of ALL of the hospitals in my area. They are only permitted to do clinical in a select few nursing homes.

Their accreditation (by me) is also being reviewed.

Wow! That's for the comments everyone, Im due to start classes in a week, and reading these posts is making me nervous! :uhoh3: Which Fortis (Bohecker) did you go to and what program did you take? I'm about to spend $22,700.00 dollars, that's a gi-normous amount of money I don't want regrets.

Thanks!

Is Fortis, Rets and Bohecker all the same school?????

I did not go to Fortis. A friend of mine went to the one in Cincy and highly regretted it. She spent about the same as you and she complained ever since. She said everyone in her class had a very hard time passing their exit exam as well. She did pass her NCLEX-LPN, but barely, and mainly due to her studying multiple sources outside of Fortis.

She always said they were very "shady" and seemed to never answer questions directly. The one you're going to may be different, but you never know. One bad apple could be a sign of a rotton bunch, or it could just be one bad apple. I'd try to get some feedback from the locals.

I went to Bohecker in Ravenna but for Business Administration back before they expanded. However I have a few friends that went to Bohecker (Ravenna) that have regretted it although they are now bridging to BSN. They do have jobs but according to them bottom of the barrel which is why they are furthering their education at a state school. Good luck
