I live in the US (California) but my wife is still doing her studies to become a RN in the Philippines. She studies at St. Paul College Foundation, Inc. in Cebu City, Cebu. She will have completed her 3rd year of nursing by the end of May 2007 and has summer class till the end of April 2007. We have both agreed to live in the US, and would like to be together ASAP. The only problem is she is only 1 year away from completing her studies there in the Philippines and does not want to start all over and do 4 more years of schooling to become a RN. Our question is would she have to start her schooling all over if she comes to the US or does her 3 years of schooling from the Philippines count here in the US? Any help on this matter would be very helpful.

She is going to have a very rough time to find a school that will accept her credits and permit her only to attend for one year. That is very hard to do even if she were attending a US nursing school for the first three years.

And then there are the waiting lists. I am going to give you information that you do not want to hear. If she plans to be able to graduate from school by that time, she is going to need to finish there. No way even in best case scenario to get done at the same time here.

Best is for the two of you to go back and forth for visits over vacation time, etc. Must better to do it that way.

Thank you for the quick responds. Your right I did not want to hear that...hehehe. Thank you so much for the advise. Your right the best thing for the both of us is going to be for her to finish her nursing in the Philippines. Everything will work out just fine I'm sure.

It will make things much easier for the two of you for her just to finish there, especially if you are speaking of just another year.

Best of luck to the two of you.

one year....that is not long, trust me, let her finish it there. i thought i was gonna die and not make it in the philippines for one year, but i did. be strong. you both will feel better after one year:lol2:

Thanks for your help and support.

I know this is a old post...but my wife wanted me to ask if she should take the board exam in the Philippines after she graduates and gets her degree. We know she will have to take the NCLEX here in the US to work as a RN...but is anything else need? Once she graduates can she just come to the US, pass the NCLEX, and then start working as a RN?

She gets her degree when she graduates. The NLE only gives her a license to work in the Philippines as an RN. Does she already have a green card?

She can just come to the US and take the NCLEX exam. No need to sit for the NLE.
