Need ideas for supplementing income

I'm working full-time days and attending school at night, but this is a temporary job that will be over the end of December. I would really like to start going to school days in January, but would need something to do to supplement our income. I would need something that would work around my schedule, though. Anyone supplementing their income? What are you doing? I've thought about cleaning houses, but can't come up with much more than that!

I'm not able to work full-time between going to school and caring for my 2 y/o. So, to make some extra money, I work as a preschool teacher at my church on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, sell Mary Kay, do some bookkeeping once a week for my Mary Kay director, and occasionally sell things on ebay. I love the extra "jobs" I have because they are so flexible and enjoyable. Find something that works for you. Good luck!

I work nights and weekends at an urgent care clinic. You could do mystery shopping, maybe personal care work ( taking elderly to doctors appts, cooking, cleaning for them), working at the school ( library help, tutoring etc)

I paid for my first semester tuition and books by selling stuff on Ebay.

You could work as a CNA. The nursing homes especially are pretty good about working around your schedule. That is what I do at least. But we are required to take a CNA course and become certified as a pre-req to the nursing program, so I had the certification as a matter of course. But that is a good way to get a p/t job that works around your schedule and gets you into the nursing field- also looks good on a nursing school app.

You could also work as a companion. There are agencies out there and they work around your schedule. You don't have to be a CNA to do that. My MIL does that, and basically she goes to elderly people's homes and helps them with various chores and some ADL's.

You could get certified in CPR instruction. If costs to do this but you could make alot of money teaching classes for preschool teachers, scouts, lifeguards and things like that. You could schedule the classes around your schedule. And you'll have a head start on getting CPR for school! Hope this helps.

I'm curious what have people found to sell on ebay that makes enough to pay for tuition and books. I adore the idea of a get rich scheme, but have never found one that worked.

I was thinking CNA, as it is very flexible with schedule, and can give you an in for a job later on,

but the idea about being certified as a CPR instructor is great- and its something you can continue in when you are a nurse!!!

Thanks ya'll!! I do try to use my little brain sometimes. The idea was given to me by a gal I used to work with ,she suggested it to me when I quit work after having my baby but I didn't ever do it even though it seemed like a great idea. I just decided to go back to school. Anyways I hope that it helps!! Best of luck!!

Check out craigslist.org for your city: there's a "part-time" link under "employment." You might find something there.

I'm in the same situation as you... starting LPN school in January, need to find a part time job!

A few years ago i was a CPR instructor and and charged like $40 for the inital class and $25 or 30 for recerts , something like that. But I would do 15 or so people for recerts and 10 people for inital certs.

15x25= 375 recerts for 4 hours

40x 10= 400 for inital class.

Now you have the expenses of the manikins and I think you have to have a defib simulator now , but I rented those for cheap when I did it. I have been sitting here for weeks trying to think of a way to make extra money.. Thanks again for the idea.
