What kind of nursing care issues are you referring to? I'm not sure what you mean when you say it cannot be a medical issue. Here is what comes to mind:
Understaffing issues
Moral and Ethical dilemmas - such as, treating criminals, euthanasia and DNR orders, religion conflicts
Hope this helps.
safe staffing issues (is it beneficial to assign an ICU RN 3 pts, med-surg RNs 10 pts etc......... is mandatory OT an acceptable staffing practice?)
compassion fatigue (how do issues e.g. medical futility affect nurses?)
professional boundaries (no, you are not the only nurse who can take compassionate care of Mr. Needypatient)
cultural competence (nursing texts, in my experience, are painfully simplistic on this topic)
self-care (yes, you do have time to pee; no, you shouldn't have to skip lunch. Asceticism does not make you a better nurse -- it makes you a hungry/crabby/incontinent nurse)
Customer service expectations (does research show that a happy pt is a well pt? Is it EBP to ask "how high" when a pt says "jump"?)

I am currently working on my BSN online. I have no experience working in healthcare though. I will start my first job in 9 days.
I have an assignment next week where I have to write about a nursing care issue. Does anyone have any good examples? What comes to mind to me are ethical issues. It CANNOT be a medical issue.
Thanks in advance!
