Well, how much are you looking to spend? you can get a decent one for cheap, maybe $200-$300, or you can get one with all the bells and whistles for $500-$600 I'm using an older model Toshiba which works well for what I'm doing, but I'm definately upgrading after I graudate and get some money

If you know computers and know how to move around the Windows environment, then get the IPAQ (PocketPC), if you don't know a lot about computers or don't really know how to move around Windows, then get the PDA with the PALM OS.
Some people are very good with Windows but still prefer the PALM OS. I prefer the familiarity of PocketPC. Almost all med programs are available in both. In fact most med programs started in the PALM OS and only later got ported to the PocketPC.

You won't be disappointed with any Palm. Make sure you buy at least a tungsten or higher. I have a tungsten e3 i believe but i still had to buy extra memory cards for it for the extra programs i purchased. Palm is excellent for freeware. Do yourself a favor and get Tabers, a drug guide, a drug calc, and whatever else you may want. i did get PalmEKG, really cool, a merck manual, and epocrates drug guide (trial version, free download) as well. The programs are endless. Look on here at PDAs in nursing forum. lots of great advice there too

I recommend the Palm TX. It's reasonably priced compared to everything else out there. They usually go from $250-300, and I got mine for $250. They don't have all the little extra things that a high end pocket PC would have, but you have to ask yourself what you need and why you're buying a PDA.
The Palm TX has everything I need in a PDA: places to write myself notes, you can upload documents, schedule, store programs, ect..
I bought the Nursing Constellation package from Skyscape and I highly recommend it. It comes with the Davis Drug Guide, RN Notes, Lab Values and Referecne, and a bunch of medical calculators. Also, invest in Taber's Medical Dictionary, and if you have extra money, get the IV drug therapy guide.
All of this cost me about $370 total, so be sure to add in how much you intend to spend on programs. Nursing Constellation and Taber's are going to add about $120 to whatever PDA you get.
My Palm TX and those programs were well worth the money. They come in handy so much!!
