Nursing Students General Students

I recently got accept in to the nursing school at a community college. I was wondering if anyone of here has any advice for a worried student. I'm really worried because I came from working as a psw/hca/cna to wanting to become a nurse. I was very worried about the clinicals, the workload as a nursing student, the stress related to nursing school, and most of all I not to sure if I can complete the program. I really feel in my heart that I will do very well in the program, but after reading some stories on here, I'm getting a little nervous!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

First of all.. calm down.:heartbeat lol School can be stressful, but it's also very exciting and fun. You just need to be dedicated and organized. I think everyone is nervous/scared before starting, and even AFTER starting. lol That's good. It shows that you care and want to do well. Enjoy your time before school starts and just take it one day at a time when you begin. ;)

I am taking my finals next week for my first 2 nursing classes, and I can tell you that nursing school, quite honestly, is not that hard. I am in an a very competitive accelerated BSN program and have barely done any studying and I have a B+ in both of my classes right now. If you have a brain, you'll do fine.

Some people are really struggling in the program, but in my opinion, those are people that shouldn't have been in it in the first place.

My friends and I freak out every semester about the "hard" class for the upcoming semester. However if you try you hardest and study it's not as hard as you think, mostly just time consuming!!!

Hey, that's all normal. My suggestion to you is too just take it a day at a time. I used to be the same way, and I found if I just concentrated at the task at hand, I did fine. Most of my fears and anxieties were actually unfounded.

Get yourself a good organizer, write down everything that you need to, but then look at only what you need to accomplish within the present time. Before you know it you will be finished with your first semester, and then your second, and so on.

Also, in regards to reading the allnurses, steer clear of the vents...which at times even you will probably need to do, look for the uplifting threads. Remember, everyone's experiences will be their own, just like you will have your own.

I remember being so nervous about clinicals and I wound up really enjoying them.

Just take it one day at a time! You'll do it! Congrats on your acceptance.:yeah::yeah:
