Im a foreign educated nurse who graduated 7 years ago. I took the nclex exam last november after attending a local review here in the philippines and failed I was an average student during my school years and i can say that im doing pretty well in my review classes. Now im preparing for my 2nd attempt this april. Can someone enlighten me on which review courses to take? Before i was planning to take kaplan but it is way to expensive for me especially now that im not working anymore. I heard about Hurst. Is this is the same with kaplan? I badly needed to brush up on my contents since i almost forgot everything about the theories. Right now i am halfway through my kaplan strategies book and halfway on saunders 4th edition. Please can someone enlighten me.. Thanks in advance!

Hurst is mostly content, kaplan is mostly questions (with content vidoes available online)

Saunders is a good resource, there are 2 newer versions of the comprehensive review available. Might be worth checking those out since the test just changed in April

Main Menu - NCLEX-RN 3500 - Institutional Version

Here is a free question bank with thousands of questions in all content areas. If you are able to take hurst, I say do hurst first, then use the question bank. Remember to read all the rationals for both the correct and wrong answers.

hello i am also prepping for the nclex rn exam and i scheduled myself for april, i had been reviewing for 2 weeks now to be exact finishing up the saunders book cover to cover with the nclex 3500. I am halfway reading it too but there are days when i feel like i am rushing to finish it or i am being too hard on myself because literally i study from 5 am to 10 pm with only a maximum of 2 hrs break and i have to finish 100 pages per day. I work during the weekends only and even during my work days i have to finish at least 2 chapters plus questions and rationales about topics i read. I was contemplating about getting hurst but it's expensive, so i searched and downloaded some free MP3s of kaplan, some of Hursts and Feur's nclex RN review... all of them are in my phone, depending on my mood i will play it when i can't hold my book...it was awesome and i was able to compare the 3...so far i like hurst way better, Marlene's voice...her accent is like a music to my ears whenever i answer my review questions, i am surprised at how i remember important things :) Depending on how well my nclex 3500 and saunders cd scores are, i will decide if i need to purchase an online content review course from hurst by february 1. ( I believe that passing this test is all gonna be up to us anyways)

After saunders, i will move on to kaplan strategies book and cd then PDA by La Charity, after that i will just answer the cd from mary ann Hogan's book and take the 3 weeks ncsbn review (questions only). After all that is done, i will give myself 1 week to determine my readiness by answering the Q trainers which i also downloaded free online. I don't know if this strategy is good but i thought about my game plan and this is what i came up with. I know that i will be able to finish all those end of march and still have time to memorize all the lab values by heart before my test. I am determined to follow my schedule although there are times when my husband and toddler are just determined to distract me and keep me out of my study nook.

Hi! Actually i feel so exhausted reading the saunders book. As if im just passing through the topics usually i would get at least 5-6 mistakes at the end of chapter quizzes and im feeling so bad about that.. I finished the kaplan strategies book today and got a 73% on the practice test. I searched for q trainers online but i only found one and got 68%. Im feeling so hopeless because i feel i have info overload already? help!
