Harcum-

only need 3 more classes to get in (will continue on in the future with a bridge program)
La Salle-
25k (just tuitiont)-2 years, done 2013=RN-BSN, 5 minutes from work=evening
need 10 more classes to get in
PLEASE HELP!!!!! I have been rolling this around for ever!!! I want to be an RN so badly!!

What did you decide on as I am in a similar position?
Met with both schools this week and really liked Harcum. The class size is much smaller. There is only going to be about 16 students/class compaired to the 30 or so at LaSalle. I also will have to take 4 or 5 more non-nursing prereqs, which I really can't justify. If I just get my RN-ADN, the bridge programs into MSN are only 3 or 4 additional classes so why would I take 4 or 5 more classes in philosphy, religion and history just to get my BSN?

Well I hope you looked into Lasalle. I originally thought that I would have to take five pre reqs too but after they went over my transcript, the took two classes in place of the philo/relig class and threw out the other two since I will not be coming in as a freshman but a transfer. I do have one class(theroy of religon) to take but I can take it in while taking the official nursing classes. I hope this helps. Im still going back with Lasalle, Weidner and Drexel Ace(Ive seen ACE first hand and its the Devil). ((((sigh))))

I would go with the LaSalle Program. I have many friends that are both attending Harcum and graduated Harcum and have heard nothing but bad things about it. Not only are they at risk for losing accreditation but they also have an exit exam that if you do not pass... you do not graduate. I suggest you speak to current students attending and get the scoop. Good luck!

At thuis time ADN grads are finding it extremelly difficult to land poistion in Philadelphia hospitals as BSN prefered credential. Harum is on provisional status with PA BON --can check approved progam link at top of this section.

Please read my posts under General Nursing Discussion and the one I posted 11/9/11. Would strongly suggest programs other than La Salle and Harcum.
