Hello all the wonderful nurses,My name is ashley and I am a RN graduated from trinity western university from B.C.I was graduated in 2011 June, I had some bumps in the road when I was taking my exams on 2011 June and oct. But I was finally able to make it in Feb with the CRNE exam! However, b/c of that gap of time, I have now come to a year where Fraser health/Vancouver coastal are no longer able to help me to find a job in public health or maternity floor. (I have done 2 years of ESN experience in Burnaby general hospital and practium in public health). I have talked with the manager of these locations, but have again, being very unsuccessful with the outcome. I recently did get a job to work as a RN at a residential place, which I am certainly very thankful for. But my heart craves for public health, vaccination, and maternity nursing. I will be taking courses for breastfeeding and prenatal course at BCIT for the fall semester, but even after that doesn't guarantee a job at the hospital. I am really lost with my heart and options right now. I am willing to relocate, but again, with almost a year of not working as a graduate nurse, who would want to hire me, what place can I apply, and what chances do I have to get into a public health/maternity nurse?Does anyone have any insights? Know anyone that I can talk to?..what do I do :( please help
