Need help, feeling crushed!

My dream is to be a Nurse. I have put off college for so long waiting for the time to be right, my kids to all be in school. Well The college I am going to only allows you to take a class 2x and if you don't receive a grade of C or better you can't even apply for the nursing program. Well my second semester I had to drop all of my classes due to money and car problems. The fallowing semester I ended up delivering a baby boy 3 weeks early, which happened to be the week of finals UGH. Well long story short In Human Anatomy I received a -C, ( I was doing fantastic the entire first half of that semester too ) which was my second attempted grade. I tried to appeal but they wouldn't give me another chance. My question is this. If I move, go to a different college and start ALL OVER could I do that even if the other college has the same rule. Can I tell them I don't want my past grades/credits. I want to start over. I know I can do this I can't imagine not being a nurse.

Have you spoken with the Dean of Nursing or the administrator? I had to drop out of Nursing school in 2010 when I got very sick. There were some exceptions to the rules but it required a typed letter to the dean and a meeting with the dean and head nursing professors. (In the end I was readmitted but couldn't get my financial aid reinstated).

Also the new college may not accept transfers of credits. That would be my first question.

They are both community colleges, I would assume that the credits would transfer. I will call tomorrow and ask.

Every school is different on what they allow. You MUST report all past colleges that you have attended, no matter how long ago it was, at the school I attend. The nursing program does allow more than 2 redo's in the science classes but will start deducting points for each attempt after 2. Just check with the schools in your area on their policies.

If you used financial aid, you're required to let any school you apply to know where you have attended before. If you don't disclose this information and they find out, you could be denied admission or even kicked out after you're admitted. I would talk to the highest person possible to see what you can do. Good luck!

I know i have to let them know, I am wondering if I payed for it myself if I could start over, or is there a time frame I have to wait (the other school won't take classes over 5 yrs old) so does that mean after 5 years I won't have to worry about them counting against me?

In my experience they still count towards your GPA even if the are too old to count towards your degree. I tried college 10+ years ago and did well for 3 semesters but did horrible the third (working to much no time to sleep or study). I could not is the classes i did well in but they all counted toward my GPA. After looking at my options i went the private college route. More expensive but my GPA did not matter as much.

My school actually does have a "reset" policy. You can essentially have your grades wiped away and start over. I think your only allowed to do it once. Regarding transfers, every college has different requirements/policies when it comes to transfer students. You would need to find out what those are if your attempting to relocate. Sadly, some Nursing Programs are very rigid and won't cut people a lot of slack. Many try to discourage working or being pregnant while in school. I think some people have probably been looked over for those reasons.

Academic forgiveness. There's a procedure/process in place at almost every college.
