Need Help with Excelsior-What is the next step?

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading through post trying to get some answers and havent found any yet, so sorry if all the info I am looking for has already been posted.

So I have decided to start excelsior. I am an Lpn and just enrolled in the Associates program. I am just so confused though.:uhoh3: So I sent in all my transcripts and got a unofficial outline of the courses I need to take. Then it told me to enroll in the school, so I did, and now I don't know what to do. It has been a week or so since I have enrolled and my offical evaluation has not been giving to me yet. Do I need to contact an advisor? I no longer have access to my unofficial evaluation to see what courses I need. Also, I have read that you don't even need to enroll to take some of the courses....I am so confused. I have most of my gen eds done, I do know I need to take A&P and Micro. So I tried to search the courses and didn't even find A&P. Any help or info would be much appreciated. I guess I am asking "what is my next step to take", I am eager to start, and feel I am just wasting time waiting for the official evaluation to be completed...........

Thanks again

Hi Endspirit,

You can only take the 1st 2 nursing exams with Excelsior w/o enrolling, however the 2nd exam will be waved since you are an LPN. You can download outlines to study if you want to. Call them if you have questions, it is better to get it from the horses mouth and you are paying a lot of money for the the program. Good luck on your Excelsior journey!:yeah:

Go to the excelsior website and get the course outline from the printable documents. That will tell you the books needed and the reading assignments as well as a general outline of what topics to understand for the exam. Register for the exam and if you decide to take the practice tests then study and do the practice tests before you take the test. Hope that helps. You can do A&P, Micro, and 2 of the nursing courses without enrolling (not sure which two, but I think health safety and health differences).

Edited to Add: That you may not have to take the second exam, as you are an LPN, however you need to talk to the school as there was either a recent change or a change that has not taken effect yet that no longer allows the waiver of the course. Either way you can do the other three without having been enrolled.
