Need help deciding majors

Hi everyone!

I just got accepted into Nursing (RN) program at Evergreen Valley College in CA. Also, I got accepted into Chemistry major at UC Davis. Now, I do not know which major I should go. For Chemistry major, It is hard to find a job with this major if I do not go to Pharmacy or Medical school. For Nursing major, It is easy to find a job than chem major. Also, I have thought another idea. If I go with Nursing major, after I got B.S degree in Nursing. If I can go to Pharmacy school or Medical school, it is very good for me. However, If I do not get accepted into any Grad schools, I can find job with my BSN. Can you guys give some advice what is the best way for me.

In my honest opinion you should pick which career you want best. Contrary to popular belief, it's not so easy to find a nursing job. It may be better by the time you finish but the unemployment rate for new nursing grads is around 65% last I heard. That's including BSN and ADN. There's nurses that's been out of school a year or more that has yet to find a job, but there's some how had a job right out of school. I'm not sure what it's like in the Chem field but you need to look at where your ultimate career goal is. You seem to be a bit all over the place from nursing to chem to pharm and med school. They are very different paths. If you want to me a MD then you should focus going straight to med school instead of taking the nursing route and being stuck unemployed. If you decide that you can't find a job as an RN and go back for med school then that's pretty much a waste of a BSN.

Nursing, medicine, and pharmacy are three completely different things. You need to focus on what you want to do rather than what will get you a job the easiest (trust me, I have 3 degrees). Just from an educational perspective, I think that a background in chemistry prepares you best for pharmacy school.
