Need some encouragement.

I am just wondering, how many times should you take the NCLEX-RN before you give up on your dream of being a nurse?

Samantha you have to start thinking more positively because you went to school to become a nurse, and that you shall be. Giving up won't get you there. Therefore, you have to study to as many questions so that you can understand the material. Think back on your last exam, what were your weaknessnes, make sure that you really brush up on them, just in case the concepts reappear, when you retest.

Personally, I really like Kaplan review, which included questions, because they definitely helped me with prioritizing patient, and I was able to tackle down those questions on the exam. Saunders is great for review of the content. Try not to be all over the place because you really want to be focused. If peds or OB is your weakness, please please please review the materials.

NEVER EVER GIVE UP...PRAYERS WILL GET YOU THROUGH THE HARD TIMES!!! PLEASE BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!

Well said BunnyRN!

Just because you did not pass the first time does not mean you give up. It is not uncommon for someone to fail their first time. I believe that someplace in this forum you will find a courageous account of someone who took the exam 6 times and passed on their last try. That person never gave up and they succeeded. Perseverance pays off!

Keep your head up and keep studying. As BunnyRN said, make sure you concentrate on your weaknesses since you never know what the test will bring. Have faith and be positive and you too will succeed. I will pray for your success.

BunnyRN and MelitaRN have definently given you the right attitude- DO NOT GIVE UP!! You didn't spend all that time and hardwork in nursing school for nothing. I just took the nclex on friday and I could truly say if I hadn't passed, I would be in that same testing center in about 60 days. You didn't come this far for a test to bring you down-claim that victory and it will be fine!! Now as far as studying goes, I have heard the NCSBN program was very close to what's actually on the test. It is $49. Also, the Kaplan 2007 book for strategies helped me alot. I would schedule a date soon though. The test plan is supposed to change in April and I'm not sure how different it will be from the present test plan....keep us posted!!!

hi samantha, please keep your faith strong. i just wanted to let you know that i used kaplan's q-bank and it really worked for me. they also have a section in the kaplan on-line review where you go over priority questions. just like what everyone said, practice, practice, practice answering questions. make sure you read each word of the questions carefully. make sure that you understand all your normal and abnormal lab values.

try schedule your nclex before april 1st. they are will have a new nclex exam on april because they will have a new nclex test plan.

Nursing is still the same this month as it will be next month. Differences in questions over the past ten years? Minimal. If you know the materal, it should not make a difference as to if the exam is taken March 31 or April 1.

The issue is when someone rushes and is not prepared.
