Need CPNE Lab Mneumonics

Published

Hi,

I have Rob's dvds and have used the majority of his mneumonics. I just need some different ones for the lab stations. I am having trouble getting them to stick in my head.

Thank you.

This mnemonic is one that a friend used, adapted from the more simple "SCIGAR" to be "SCIGAARRR." It works for all the stations (except the wound, of course); you just eliminate anything that doesn't apply to the station, like "Roll NPH." So if you have IM instead of SQ insulin, just just cross out "Roll NPH."

S – Select Med

C – Calculate dose

I – ID pt to the MAR

G – Glove up

A – Assess site

A – ASPIRATE

R – Roll NPH

R – Record before (calculations)

R – Record after (Sign MAR)

thank you.

this mnemonic i developed the night before because i kept getting confused with the long ones i had from my workshop. i used it for all labs except the wound.

roll gicas (i told my brain to associate gicas with the spanish word chicas meaning girls so roll the girls)

roll nph

glove up

id patient with kardex

check iv/landmark

alcohol circular/aspirate

sign

i put rgicas next to the calculation page where you have to write the name of the drug(s) and put your calculations and of course cross off the ones that don't apply.

i passed all my labs without repeats! :D

You can also come up with your own. Self inspired mnemonics are the most useful ones.
