Need some clarifiation please

What are the main differences between LPN, CNA & RN?

WHAT?, O.k, Starting from the top. RN- registered Nurse, he/she is responsible for the patient. Is in charge of patients total care, gives meds, and treatments, can initiate procedures when necessary etc...

LPN- which I am, works under the supervision of an RN, gives certain, non emergency etc.. meds, does some procedures, implents pt care etc...

CNA- under the supervision of RN and LPN, provides patient care such as grooming, bathing, hygiene.

No..not necessary. I went from a secretary to an RN.

No you do not have to a LPN or CNA before you can be an RN. Now with that being said some people suggest you become a CNA before enrolling in nursing school to see if you like working with people in the type of capacity you would as a nurse. Also my understanding is that in most states, nursing students are considered qualified as CNAs after their first or second semester of nursing courses but you might want to check on this.
