Hi everyone,
Has anyone been told by a grad school that can not make a decision until you have a BSN degree even though you are in good standing and have 1 semester to go? The school I applied to hasn't informed me of the decision about this, but after I applied stated that this might be an issue. By the sounds I have a good chance of acceptance, but would like to know now rather than next summer. I have even asked about conditional approval based on my graduation, but haven't gotten a decision yet.

Wow... that's unusual to me. I think it's standard to be given acceptance contingent upon completion of your degree, but I've never heard of a school withholding the decision until you have degree in hand.
Good luck to you.

Hi,
Have you asked more than one school? Maybe the one you asked just has "issues".
One school I asked about a post master's certificate just had not idea what a Masters entry generalist degree was an said that only BSN students were accepted...this is to a MSN student with no pre-qualifying BSN.
So, not all schools or at least, not all receptionists at that school know what they are talking about.
Good luck,
Gen

Gen brings up a good point that I emphasize time and time again. It really matters who you talk to-- don't always rely on the person who answers the phone because they usually dont know what they are talking about and they usually don't have any say in admissions decisions.
Your best bet would be to look around the school's website to find out who are the contact people for your program.
Actually the first person I talked to at this school the first time said no problem. The second time when another piece of my application got lost he said that it could be a problem. I spoke with the assistant director and she hasn't gotten back to me with a firm answer. I think I will call on Mondy to see if she has had a chance to follow up. I may also ask the director. It seems kind of silly to wait until spring when there is rolling admissions. I would be satisfied with a conditional acceptance or refusal as long as the decision is based now and not late spring or summer. I would even be willing to get a letter of intent to graduate from my BSN program. I have applied ot graduation. I did check with a couple of other schools. They both made it sound like it wasn't a big deal and I would know one way or the other and not have to wait until spring.
