I must be crazy!! Got my ATT yesterday scheduled for my NCLEX-RN on 6/23 but I am growing impatient. That was the first avail day and now I want to test sooner. So I found another test date.... next weekend 2 hours 20min from home.
Family lives an hour away; so will cut my drive time to a little over an hour.
Do I want to take it, oh yeah!! Then I ask myself am I ready??
Needing advise! I know you never know if your truely ready. I feel like I have been studying for the past 2 years. It's like I just want someone to tell me to go for it. My hubby says, "if that's what you want."
Ughhhh!!!

I say Do It!! I scheduled scheduled my date about 4 weeks ago for next week, and I think as much studying as I've done... I could've taken it a lot sooner and gotten the whole thing over with and wouldn't have had to go through all the anxiety i'm feeling now. You know you best though...
my anxiety is in overdrive right now!
When I finished my CPNE (EC clinicals) I took two days off and then I jumped right into preparing for the NCLEX. I finished on 4/21.... so today is 6/4....
my weak areas.... PEDS and Meds....
I am pretty confident in the other areas!

I know exactly how you are feeling! I've been asking myself that same question - why did I schedule 4 weeks out when I could have done it sooner??? BUT... I think you have to address two questions here -
1. How much have you been able to prepare so far? B/C I think the more you can practice Q's and review some content before hand, the better off you will be.
2. How much "out of your comfort zone" are you willing to be? Will you be nervous driving around in an area you might not be as familiar with? Will getting up and out over an hour earlier than you might have to mess with your anxiety? Will sleeping in a different bed make for a bad night's rest and therefore a potentially bad testing day?
Maybe being with your family will make you feel better, and maybe you are more comfortable in that area anyhow. You know yourself best. Either way, I wish you lots of luck!!! :)
Those are my weakest areas too!! Have you done any review courses... Kaplan, NCSBN... and have you been going through NCLEX style questions? It's been a good gauge for me to see how i'm answering questions and I do feel a little more confident than before... but who knows? I have a few friends that didn't study much and passed last week. It's just different for everyone. But again.... you know yourself best!! :w00t:

If you feel you are ready and you want to test sooner, then change the date. Good luck.
As far as studying.
I usually do 50-75 questions daily.
I also change it up a bit and re-read some content from my Saunders book.
then do a chapter from LaCharity
then do a little reading from a Hesi book
not all the same day but I usually do 2 of those areas daily.
I get up at studying first thing in the morning for about 1 1/2 hours... then go to work... at lunch do about 20-25 questions... go home
pay attention to my daughter and hubby (can't leave them out).
then study for additional 2-3 hours with 10 minutes breaks here and there.
I have been actively studying since end of April. Taking a day off here and there for a mental break.
choices.... grrr... I am leaning towards praying some more then deciding!!
Oh... I Love Allnurses!
Best support system ever!!!
I haven't taken any review courses.
sounds like my schedule and sounds like you've been preparing a lot! I vote for prayer then deciding.... that's what kept me sticking with my date (I was gonna change it for a later date b/c I got so nervous) i'm sure you'll do amazing! Have faith and just do what's best for you... it always works out the way it's meant too! Good luck!

My official graduation date was YESTERDAY (6/4). I originally scheduled my test date for June 22 because that was the soonest available within a decent drive from me. Then yesterday night, about 5 hours after I scheduled the first test I rescheduled it for this coming Wednesday. I have taken a review course which gave us hints on how to test, stuff like that. Our instructor told us when you take a comprehensive practice test that you should be testing above a 60%. I have taken 3 so far and I have scored 64% on each one and I also scored on my ATI GN predictor a 99% probability of passing.
I am totally freaking out right now. I think that is totally natural. And I suffere from anxiety. I think it is good to just get it done and over with. If you fail, dust yourself off and try again. Just stay positive, that is what is getting me through all of this anxiety. Also, take time to do something fun like a puzzle or read a book during your breaks while studying.
Good luck!!!!
