Need advice about TMC as new grad

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some insight about working at TMC. I am a new grad as of May 04 living in Minnesota. Since I have not been able to find a job here, I decided to work with a recruiter for a job. I fly into Tucson next Fri to go to an RN "Open House" at TMC. I'm interested in the fellowship in ICU. My future goal is to become a CRNA. The direct entry into ICU is enticing but I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks to working at TMC. I've been to Tucson a couple of times a few years ago so I'm a little familiar with the area. My husband would have to find a new job. How is the unemployment rate? Difficult to find a job? He's into heavy equipment type stuff. I'm also enticed by the tuition reimbursement. I plan to obtain my BSN soon. Any tidbits of advice anyone has to give me I would really appreciate it. No advice (I live nowhere NEAR Tucson), but just wanted to say hello from another Minnesotan-moved-to-Arizona!

I don't know about the nursing situation at TMC, but I was born there!! It's well known as a great hospital. There is also UMC (University Med Center) which has magnate status. With the construction rate going on in Tucson right now, I don't think your husband would have any trouble getting a job. UofA has one of the best BSN programs around. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. Hello to the MN transplant - bet you love the weather there. I just shoveled for the second time this year already. I hate it. Well I feel a little better since I know nothing about this hospital. I look forward to interviewing there this weekend. Thanks again
