Need advice STAT!

Hi guys! I'm relativity new to traveling. I've been doing it since January and I'm currently on my second assignment. I have a dilemma. The recruiter I'm currently with submitted me to a couple of hospitals without my knowledge a few weeks ago. I wasn't told about that until today.

I've been talking to other agencies in those few weeks and gave permission for another agency to submit me to a certain hospital, thinking I hadn't been submitted to that hospital at all. Today I'm just finding out that I've been submitted by both agencies.

I don't know what to do. Will this affect me getting a job with this hospital? The recruiter with the other agency said I just need to email the hospital and let them know I want to go with her agency, not the one I'm currently with and it shouldn't be a problem. Am I being played? I feel like I'm trapped in between two agencies. I first started looking at other agencies because I wanted to compare prices but the agency I'm currently with traditionally hasn't give me pay rates until I've been submitted. What do I do? Is this something to panic about?

I'm sorry for the rambling and would appreciate any advice you might have. I'm a little frazzled right now and at a loss of what to do.

While every hospital is different, some will not consider a traveler at all that has had two agencies submit them. The general rule in the absence of that is that the first agency to submit owns you for that hospital. For this reason, you need to be very clear with your agencies that you are not to be submitted without explicit permission. I think your current agency has already given you two clear reasons to dump them, submission without approval (although you didn't tell them not to), and lack of transparency about pay.

The best course of action I'd recommend here is to forget about your current agency, and cycle back to this particular hospital of interest in the future. That will be the lowest stress. Lots of assignments out there now! And get some more agencies on board, with honest recruiters that tell you what they are doing and how much an assignment is worth.

I would call your current agency and make it clear to them that you do not want them submitting you for any jobs. Then never use them again.

I would definitely take the low stress option that ned mentioned and just go elsewhere on assignment for now.

I was submitted by two different agencies for the assignment I'm on now. I was also freaking out but it was no big deal. I got to travel with the agency I wanted. The hospital needed a travel nurse. They didn't really care which agency I was with.

Just to point out that as a really scarce L&D nurse, the hospital would have taken you through a third agency!

ED nurses are in much better supply so a lot less likely to have the desired outcome for the traveler in the middle of a double submission. No matter the specialty or traveler, double submissions are super stressful if one really wants that specific assignment. Ethical issues abound for all parties.

Yeah I'm really frustrated with my current recruiter. She gets me pretty good pay though. I'm thinking I probably won't go with her in the future. I appreciate all the advice! I'm hoping it won't be a big deal but if it is I'll just look elsewhere and keep them in mind for the future. I'm thinking I'm definitely going to go for the low stress option Ned advised. Thanks everybody!

I was also submitted by 2 agencies for my first assignment and it wasn't a big deal at all. If it's a good offer, go with the new agency (yes definitely dump the old one). If you want something else, keep looking!

My advice is to find another recruiter. Tell her why you are dropping her.
