Need some more advice on passing Nclex- PN 3rd time

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi all I have taken the Nclex PN 2 times now and failed the second time. The first time my results were the low scores and Above in Pharm. The second time I took it in July 2010 my scores were Near passing for all and Above passing for Pharm. I have started studying in July 2010 but stopped. I just don't have the zeal to study. I know I have one more chance to take it but scared to death. I try to think positive but always remember when I prayed and all I thought were positive thoughts I failed. I even did the Hurst review my school was offering it and well the book has been sitting on my desk since July. Is there anyone who took it 2 times or even 3 with any words of wisdom.

Specializes in None, YET!.

Simandrea: I took the exam back in April, but I failed. And since then, I haven't bothered scheduling my second exam till I knew for sure I was ready. The first time around, I studied out of 2 books at starbucks..This time around, which was 2 months before my 2nd exam date, I studied at home using Kaplan book/CD. I mainly studied using the CD. I did 10 questions at a time, and whatever I didn't understand, I found the answers online. And just kept going..Don't give up, when I took the exam the second time, it went all the way to 205.. I was soo upset and frustrated, thinking I had failed again..But, I came home and tried the PVT and I think I may have passed. I was at the verge of giving up, and I'm glad I didn't.

yeah i mean i don't know you personally but, from reading your post it sounds like you really know the material. so perhaps it is just test anxiety and if that is the case then just try and remember why you are taking the test. remember the reasons you want to be a nurse and how helpful it will be for you and your family.

again good luck in your future.

Hi simandrea,

The one piece of outside advice that I got that helped me pass the NCLEX was "Do not do a subject review, do review questions." I went over at least 50 questions a day. NCLEX review books with CDs are great. If anything, just to the CD. The test is designed to assess minimum standard so knowing only the basics is enough to pass.Learning test taking tips and always, always, always reword the questions in your head. This will give you a better chance of avoiding trick questions. I know you'll do fine the next time. You seem like you really want this and that's a great future nurse trait ;). Good luck and never give up!

hello everyone im new to this but i had to post something. I'm taking my boards in 5 days and I just want some reassurance. I am currently doing kaplan and I wonder is that enough? please someone respond.
