HI

My name is Cissy. I recently left my nursing position in a long term care facility in geriatric psych which proved to be more than I could manage. My nursing license was being threatened by the DON who was almost responsible for the facility being shut down.

Anyway, I picked up a per diem position working in flu clinics in the hope of having some sort of income.

I want to work in a doctors office and have an interview with the physician next Wednesday but I cannot rely on getting this position.

I do not want to work in long term care or the hospital setting. I have a learning disability (ADD) and these nursing enviorments are not conducive do this.

I thought of Home Care but most of them require 2 to 5 years experience.

Thank you so much!

Cissy

How long did you work there? Why was your license being threatened? And what do you WANT to do?

I worked there for 14 months. I was in the stairwell making a personal call. I was speaking about a resident " with no names given". The DON was listening to my conversation behind the locked door. He pulled me aside and accused me of violating hippa. He said I used first and last name which was a lie. I never used any names. Prior to this I was written up for med errors and I believe he was looking for reasons to let me go. It is such a long story. I received a good review two months prior accept to " improve on my med pass. I understand and I own my med errors but this DON is so scared that this facility was tagged by the state for abuse he is looking for any opportunity to show the state he is now taking action.

Prior to him targeting me I wrote a staff statement and reported a nurse who was bullying me . I had stated in the letter I put off reporting for fear of retaliation. I believe this nurse is aiding the DON and looking for opportunities to write me up.
