I am confused by the last paragraph. I know it should tell me something I am not sure what. At #2 would they just cancel you if no floating?
We do about 6000 deliveries. Our manager posts 10 positions when we get ready to do a training program otherwise we would show no openings. Can you add some details?

I guess what they were trying to say is that if you had experience at Johns Hopkins then no one would ask what type of facility it was, as to where if you were just at any other hospital.
Casual Staff is called off, Full Time people are not called off.
Hospital #2 for sure. 3% turn over, they must be doing something right and people are happy. Happy people stay put.
My sentiments exactly - folks don't stay where problems are. Low turnover means good conditions for staff. People vote with their feet in heath care durring a labor shortage - and you are a rare commodity. Not many new grads in my graduating class interested in L&D. Most are looking toward other areas.
Number One sounds HIGHLY suspect.
Number Two sounds promising. I am into progressive and a low turnover is a good indicator people are reasonably content there
....and "male nurse barriers"? OMG where on earth are these still a problem? Sheesh. Get into the current century please, places that still have this problem.

I don't know about other parts of the world - but where I used to live in North Carolina I was told that there was "no place" for me in a well known schools nursing program that I applied to because they had no clinical placements available for a "male" student. I had to sell my house and move my family in order to attend a school that would accept me. I had no problem with my accedemic credentials gaining a place in my current school even though they turned down thousands of other applicants that did not meet their very high GPA standards. Unfortunately sexual bias still exists - and it is up to good folks EVERYWHERE to help put an end to discrimination of ALL TYPES.

Okay Here I am asking advice AGAIN:
I was offered two jobs in OB/L&D as new graduate Male. I guess by being so young I do not know how to make decisions yet, and after I declined one job offer I was told off so bad I need advice about making a good decision between the other two.
Hosital One: Large Teaching Facility: 3600 deliveries a year, L&D Only, Can get pulled to PP, NBN, GYN. Male Nurse barrier not broken (1st one). Devoted Christian Manager, Has 16 openings in L&D. 401k/Pension Plan, Sign on Bonus, Relocation Assistance, Every Other Weekend. Took Chance on me hiring me as first male nurse there and the staff is supportive.
Hospital Two: Worldwide Known Teaching Facillity: 3600 deliveries/year, Birth Center Setup, No Pull, Male Nurse Barrier Broke, No Openings, only 3% turnover in 3 years, 1 wknd month, No Sign On, One Wknd month, self schedule. Male Nurse Barrier Broke. Highly Progressive hospital.
I was cautioned by several professors/nurses that if I was to up and move to other side of country and mention Hospital One I would have to describe what type of facility it was, if I was to move and describe Hospital Two: I wouldn't have to say anything...
NEED ADVICE L&D NURSES!
