Need advice about coordinating A & P class with A & P lab

Published

Hi all,

Can someone tell me when the best time to take your A & P lab to coordinate with A & P class? Is it okay to take the lab right before the class? If not can I take it on another day?

Thanks so much.

Michele

Hi:

When I took A&P, our lectures were either MWF or TTH and depending on the time of lecture you could take the lab either before or after lecture. I took lab afterwards just because at times you would have a lecture exam and lab exam the same week. That way when your done with the lecture exam for that week, you can concentrate on the lab exam (which in many cases was visual with parts you had to identify)...so more extensive studying.

I wish you the best in A&P....I enjoyed it alot!

I took A&P over the summer and it was accelerated so we had 2 labs a week. They met twice a week after lecture. When I've taken science courses during a regular semester, they are usually on a separate day. Depending on your course load, it might be a lot to take a lab on the same day you take the class.

But otherwise I don't think it really matters. If you have different teachers for each it's a good possibility that the two classes won't completely stay together content-wise anyway.

when i signed up for anatomy, your lab was scheduled for you. you couldn't pick which day or time it was at. i had my lab on wednesdays, right before lecture and i did just fine. it isn't too much to have them on the same day imo

My A&P 101 lecture was on Tuesday and lab was on Thursdays. Tests were the same week in lecture and lab so I had Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday to prepare for the lab exam. It worked out fairly well. I chose to take lecture and lab on the same days in 102 and I was worried that it would be too much, but I still did well on tests even though they were on the same days. I just studied for them both at the same time.

I have lab right before lecture and have had no problems at all. Our teachers know the lab and lecutre test schedules and have been wonderful about not having the tests on the same day so that we have plenty of time to study.

I have also had lab after lecture and that worked too. I like having lab before hand because we go over all the anatomy part and then we go over the physiology in lecture and it explains what we just looked at is doing. But that is really just the way it happened to work this time. If I would have been able to take lab after lecture that wouldn't have bothered me either.

Personally I would hate to have lab on a different day from lecture. I don't want to have to make another trip to campus on another day. And I feel it really helps to have the two classes go hand in hand on the same day.

At my school, it can become difficult to schedule a full load when the labs are scheduled independently of the lectures. I had to do a lot of juggling with my chemistry lab, and there's no way I could have taken two of my other classes if I'd tried to fit it on one of the same days as my lecture.

Well you always have to do whatever you can to make it work. In the long run I don't think it really matters how you scedule everything. It is really more of personal preference, but I think it will work no matter what if you want it to.
