This is probably from the IL Nursing Practice Act., it's what's required for each state's BON to have some established rules and regulations. All these acts or policies apply to anyone wishing to be a nurse in that state, it has NO bearing or influence whether one is a US citizen, dual citizen, international citizenship status or if one's a Martian.

It's similar I think to like what FL has. One must PASS the NCLEX within the third attempt or be required to take a refresher course.

In the state of IL, it seems one has to pass before the third anniversary of their application filling date (or the approval date) or the application will be denied and must start all over again as if applying for the very first time with new fees and the same minimum required documentations to be reviewed.

The killer part is that one MUST do a completion of a new two year nursing program and that's going to be tough if the same situation existing today will be there later with the competition of trying to enroll as a new nursing student.

This is information I received from a batchmate last year who is looking to apply into IL.

So yes, it's to your best interest to pass by the third try. I know some try to apply into another state without such a limitation of the retaking of the NCLEX-RN, such as NM or NY or CA etc. You'll have to apply as a brand new applicant into any other state, must meet that state's requirements as new applicant, BUT you need to make sure that the previous failures will NOT count towards that state's testing requirements. This will need to do some serious research so you don't waste any more time or money.

I was actually informed today, I think this will be good information to post in the World tab under the Nursing Registration forum.

But just so we're all on the same page, might you have any information that was maybe given to you by the IL BON in regards to the "rule 60-10", in the case I was misinformed and don't want to pass out incorrect information.

Keep us posted, hope you pass the 3rd time and all this will not be needed.

I tried sending you a PM but was not successful since you need to delete your saved messages in order to received new ones.

Can i ask what your friend did? Did he/she took the exam elsewhere and apply for reciprocity or endorsement in Illinois?

Thanks.

She went to NY.....unlimited testings.

The reason my mailbox gets so full of messages because so many people actually ask me the same questions or concerns over and over again, that it's better to post them in this public forum so that all can benefit.

@Steppybay Thank you so much for posting your response. I am glad i am not alone on this. That will be my plan. Take the NY Board Exam.

Have a great weekend!

Hi steppybay,

Can I bother you one more time? Did your friend have problems filing for endorsement here in Illinois with a NY RN License? I was just wondering if there are any requirements needed other than an RN license from out of state to apply for endorsement here in Illinois.

Thank you...i will not bother you again...Sorry....

Gil

hey.. I'm here in illinois too.. so what did you do? did you pass the test? my registration will expire on January 2015.. I took the test in mid-May.. I answered 265 questions and spent more than 5 hours and still I failed. :( it's so disappointing.. I checked in Wisconsin they dont have any limitations in taking the test.

hi. I have a question..

My application expired for BON IL (3YEARS HAS BEEN PASSED).

Is it okay to re-apply all over again or do I need to go to school/refresher course? I took NCLEX-RN once and I failed...

thank you.

No, you would just be wasting your money since by IL law, one has to pass the test within 3 years from the last exam. That's what happened to me and the fee for both IL BON and testing center are NON-REFUNDABLE!

Went to my school and talked to the DON and was told i have to go back to school. Was totally depressed! There are no refresher course in IL as well. Trust me i did my research! Florida has one though.

It is not until i came to this forum that EACH STATE HAS DIFFERENT RULES/LAWS and that i could still take the exam ''outside'' IL. I choose NY since they have unlimited. One girl here who is same situation as you and me is taking the WI boards (also unlimited she said).

So i hope i gave you an answer. There is still hope for us, so do not be despair!

By the way are you also Filipino?

Feel free to contact me....

yes, Filipino. How can I contact you?

please send me message.

thanks.
